Adaa (feminine grace)

Adaa (meaning - feminine grace) is a  series of portraits honouring the history of the saree and the traditional way it was worn before the British colonisation. It also highlights what the garment represents - the struggle, the femininity and the protector.
Adaa was my attempt at understanding the history of the beautiful garment that the saree is. It was my way to explore the original way it was worn and how it symbolises Indian femininity.
Today there are more than 108 ways to wear a saree. What once was a seamless piece of cloth worn in ancient India, went on to become the first Indian international garment.
